Ancre Heights 8, Somme day 100

Strong attacks were put in by XIV Corps, III Corps and the Canadian Corps. Again the gains which were made were at high cost, as were the failed attacks. The Canadians suffered particularly heavy losses both in their assaults and in repelling counter-attacks. The withdrawal of the Corps from the front line was commenced [completed on the 11th October.]
